You might want to check out the "Last-Mile Technologies" thread -- I can't direct you to specific posts, but there are some very smart people there who appear to know this stuff well. I seem to recall an interesting post(s) discussing Antec/NT and Tellabs' cable solutions from maybe six months ago.

I can't give you a technical answer but can add the following:

On Friday evening, Michael Armstrong of AT&T was on Digital Jam discussing his offer and spoke about MediaOne and how they were ahead of TCI and AT&T on the technology curve. Now he might have been blowing smoke, but . . .
