A hundred thousand people don't die in traffic accidents in the U.S. every year. About 40k, about the same as are killed by guns. But we get a lot more utility out of our cars than we get out of our guns, unless you're going by some bizarre NRA metric. We pay a lot of attention to safety with cars, we have registration and licensing, and most states require liability insurance.
