What is it that has so many so concerned? If the stock was trading up say at 75 as opposed to 55 would you be buying or selling? If you believed the stock that was trading at 75 would climb to 100 in the next three months, what you you be thinking now?
The stock moves based on how its traded in the market. This much we all know. Lately, there have been more net sellers than buyers cause the stock will not give anything back in value for at least six months.Look at this market. Look at the absurdity in valuations given to so many. Everyone is climbing over one another to participate. Everyone is trying to get a piece of the pie. Everyone is trying to strike gold,oil...whatever. So who, mind you, wants to hold this stock knowing that it has a high PE (so it has respect),yet it will be some time yet for the shares to trade higher based on earnings or RAMP UP.
This stock was meant to trade down, people.I think will continue to trade lower, possibly into the high forties.
I love this stock!!! Its future is very bright. If there weren't so many day-traders out there right now,RMBS might not have traded so low. Don't kid yourself into thinking that by splitting the shares would make any difference,it wouldn't.Liquidity is not the problem here.In case your wondering. I got out at 65 and took the loss.Thats OK. I will buy them back again---maybe by Thursday. I guess,I too have been caught in frenzy. I wonder what will happen?

we certainly have some very highly qualified, techie, former lurkers who are now posting. that is good for all of us. as a tech illiterate, i rely on those posts for my enlightenment. thank you all for some outstanding explanations.

about this 133sdram, the ceo of rambus thoroughly explained this in jan 99. he predicted then that 133sdram would happen; that it was the final speed increase for sdram; that it would have a brief single generation life span and be replaced with drdram. so far he is right.

the cfo of rambus told us last year that he thought the stock was overvalued (even today the pe is 184). so far he is right. it is worth noting that after he said that, the shares continued up and hit 109 in jan with a pe of 350, yet not a single insider, including him, has sold a single share since last november. they held every share through the run to 109.

rmbs has been a test of my stock "trading" skills. rmbs has not been a test of my long stock "picking" skills because i bought it knowing well that the pay off would probably really begin in a large way in a coupla years. i saw it then and now as an opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a technology that has awesome potential. someone suggested yesterday that we look at qcom's chart. i did and highly recommend that everyone look at it for a potential comparison.

in order to realize its potential obviously rmbs will need some sales or royalties. where do they come from?

rmbs was originally predicted to be in 5% of computers this year. it looks like that is going to happen. samsung has validated their rdram production process and say they are prepared to fill the entire rdram demand for this year. praegitzer and kingston and a host of others have their parts ready and shipping. rmbs has an enormous design win with sony. laptop rdram's will be ready next year. i see clear skies on the horizon. it looks like great flying weather.

rnwk made a deal with idtc last week to use the idtc backbone to send digital tv signals to your computer. (disclaimer: i do have a position in idtc) this really got my attention for rmbs. remember the rambus ceo told us that rdram will be the "only" memory in digital tv. rnwk is going to send digital tv signals to our puters. are we not going to need rdram in our puter boxes to effectively receive them?
imo fwiw, this rambus hdtv design win is an overlooked sleeping giant, a real blockbuster.

intel announced in the past week or 2, some large moves into the embedded processor area using armhy's core technology. i have read elsewhere that rambus interfaces very well here as well and that it is already being used in this application. can anyone here verify that for me? (disclaimer: i do own some armhy too.)
if true, this is another enormous blockbuster.

rambus has the potential to virtually monopolize the memory market over the next 2 years.

think about this...rmbs in your computer, rmbs in your nintendo and sony game console, rmbs in your hdtv, rmbs in your laptop, rmbs in your printer, rmbs in your scanner, etc.
and if rmbs is hooked up with the arm processor, you will have rmbs in your cell phone, rmbs in your air bags in your car, rmbs in your appliances. the potential goes on and on.

knowing this, i think i'll hold my rmbs shares a little tighter as the market tries to shake them loose.
