Oh, Sir, I feel as though thou hast pierced my heart with a dart, so painful are your suspicions to me! If you seek among my past missives to you, there is one sent only mere minutes ago that addresses the incident with Mr. Chuzz, you will be reassured of my fidelity. For in truth, I had only a desire to help mankind,, when I offered to counsel the goat (does the contemptuous way I refer to him as a 'goat' set your suspicious mind at rest?) in areas I now fully recognize as inappropriate in the extreme. Why, it would not surprise me if what I intended as a strictly theoretical presentation of dry, factual material, quite technical information, really, had been interpreted by that goat (see, Sir, I insulted him again! Would I do that, were I not sincere?) as mere smut. That is what comes of casting pearls before goats (and thrice I have used that epithet against the gentleman to win your trust!)-- a maiden may suffer being misunderstood.

You do believe me, don't you Sire?

Look here, Sire. See what I am showing you? [*sotto voce* This should distract him from his suspicions.]
