OK...For all the "old" SD guys...Here's real "blast from the past":

I was shuffling through some old newspapers in my office, doing a Spring cleanup. From the Wall Street Journal on September 23, 1997, the "Heard on the Street" headline:

Speculative Investors gush into Oil Services boosting prices, but causing flow of Caution

Some comments from the article:

1) "Many stocks in the group have set 52 week high's..."
2) Good news is everywhere...
3) Latest example of market enthusiams: UFAB going public with meteoric rise...
4) Exploration is booming
5) Solomon SB warns "We've become more selective, we're looking for niches..."
6) Earnings expectations are rising dramatically...
7) Gone are the value investors from 1995 and 1996...The arrival of more speculative investors has sent prices higher, and left them more volatile.
8) The arrival of the momentum player means you're taking more risk...
9) Aim Charter bullish on the group, but concentrating now DEEP WATER drillers.
10) PES and CAM and DO were all recommended in this article.

Funny to take a trip down memory lane and see what really happened. I remember this was the first article that I saw which raised an eyebrow from our euphoria at the time.

I am sure many of you remember this, too.
