at the risk of turning the Cdn. Oil thread into a Pinnacle thread....... fwiw Nickle's Petroleum Explorer Qtrly. Magazine back in Sept.'98 did a two-pager "SFD Getting Real Test" by Malcolm Sword. The article words basically jive with what you've indicated Dilution re: partners, etc. There was a picture of the original camper van that was used for tests in Jumping Pond Rundle pool, Crossfield Wabamun, Elkton pools and Mikwan Nisku field. A picture of Pinnacle's "latest (then) acquisition - a Twin Commander" plane for airborne surveying was also shown. The only thing that doesn't completely mesh is the article's last sentence, a quote from Pinnacle President Dirk Stinson, "We're two months away from a NASDAQ listing." Article also indicated Encal would be drilling first SFD identified anomaly in NE B.C. during the first qtr. of 1999. Possibly you've already mentioned the results or if the prospect was drilled? Agree that Shoal Point results could be interesting.

Dilution,

I note your comment: " that has so far produced somewhere between 30-50 SFD located structures that have SUBSEQUENTLY been confirmed by the partners with 2D and 3D seismic". This is interesting in that two companies would be hard pressed to locate 30-50 structures on their own within western canada (outside the foothills) as the vast majority of the traps are stratigraphic.

As a personal note, 7 years ago I was approached by some Russian who was based out of Montreal and was telling me he could locate oil and gas structures using some fancy gadget. Is one of these fellows involved in the SFD a Russian (former Russian citizen)?

I must say, I am skeptical to the extreme. I am very familiar with the vast majority of geophysical exploration methods and know of nothing that is capable of doing what you describe SFD as capable of. As a matter of note gravity and magnetics are very good indicators of structure and can also be acquired by aircraft. If SFD is a structure finder similar to grav/mag, so what? If SFD can determine fluid content...well, that's another story but I honestly don't see how. My uninformed gut feeling is that this is simply a variation on gravity and magnetics (a structure finder).
