XO ; Re 9005 US mutual funds - Bloomberg
I saw taht too , but guess what it does not include ?
(1) investment clubs, and they function much like a mutual
fund and while most are small the number is huge and growing.
(2) Privet or closest type funds ( many tracking the S&P 500
index ) from special teachers, to fireman to collages, and they
are all a form of mutual fund.
------------------
9005 is the tip of the iceberg that we see , that any
joe blow can buy into. Remember Oarnge County in Ca that most
went broke well they every tax payer involved unknowingly
in what may as well be called a mutual fund.
( derivatives no less )
In fact I do not think there is any one who pays taxes
that in one way or another is not having some of his
Tax dollars sunk into a mutual fund. All most all of us
own some sort of mutual fund even if it's serendipitously.
People who would not consider buying into the market are
being bought in by local and State Governments and never know it,
much to the delight of Wall street and the investment bankers
who have teams of salesman roaming the country side looking
for any spare Tax money some City, County or State may have
and promising them a BIG return.
9005 ! even half that number would have impressed me as big
no end a few years ago , until I started asking myself some
questions and by chance I stumbled into a whole Ton of
privet or say semi privet S&P 500 index funds that morning star
has no reason to rate. The 9005 number is now a joke , at least
to me it is.
