Chirodoc, The other Major players on Mainland China (not Hong Kong which is now part of PRC) all are joint ventures between the Chinese government & private telecom companies. "...China Infohighway (CIH) was formed two years ago as a joint venture between the government of China and a private Chinese telecommunications company to develop the backbone and Internet services in the 21 largest cities in China." They have about 100,000 subscribers compared to XNET's 20,000 but XNET currently is only in 2 cities. (will be in 4 starting next month) Pacific Internet is much larger, but most subscribers are in Singapore. XNET is the largest of the "Mainland" Chinese ISP's that one can currently invest in, and likely to remain that way as long as the Chinese government has major ownership in the others. IMOT is also in the China ISP & Portal business, but judging by their revenues, is substantially smaller than XNET. I've never seen an estimate of their subscriber base in 1 of their many PR's.
Take a look at my previous post about subscriber growth and what this will mean for XNET in the future.
