Vic--- "outsider having some advantages in cutting staff and waste. Just so long as he does not cut out the good stuff." That is THE toughest part. Outside has to work with inside... also just because CPQ has the history does not mean the choice between a C / T / D employee is automatic the C person. The skills and attitudes may indicate the C person goes and another stays-- that is the toughest part,,, chosing between a long term employee and an acquired one,,, a choice many inside do not want to or will not make... a strong reason for an outsider,, not just outside C but outside the industry. Rudes comment of the "wrong" culture overtaking the correct one is predominent. Long time employees begin to wonder why they are performing at such a high level when when the "new people" must have been doing well to be brought on board and do less. Also, the amout of time they do not use productively often is used to detract the original employees that are trying to accomplish as much as possible. Attitudes of a few employees brought in may have seen an unconscious detrimental effect due to the loyalty to their previous organization. Some may recognize it in others but few would believe it could hapen to them. On the other side of the spectrum are those that are performing much better as they are happy to have a position and possibly concerned about keeping it so they may be outperforming their peers in the old org... the bottom line is every employee must now be evaluated to determine their value to the future of the company not what they have contributed in the past---- just as 5fer was... BUT the thing to remember in the tech industry is mistakes are expected,, the only people that do not make a mistake are those that are doing nothing.... OFF MY SOAPBOX... but if Ben wants a consultant <gggg>
