Sorry, only half awake. I thought your post was very well taken. The part about Colorado being a white flight state was interesting, I didn't realize that. I have been horrified, lately, by what seems to be an increase in hate crimes. I grew up in Biloxi, and Oxford, Mississippi, and New Orleans and Baton Rouge, Louisiana, before integration. I thought that this would all get better with time, and it seems to keep getting worse.

Here in Fairfax, there are literally dozens, if not hundreds, of nationalities. Racism is not tolerated.

When I was a kid in Baton Rouge, even the teachers were overtly racist, until integration, then it became covert. My gym teacher told me if I kept hanging out with the black kids I was gonna get a reputation. The principle brought me in for a warning. The football players followed me home and spit on me. This was at Baton Rouge High. My dad moved out to Broadmoor, which wasn't integrated until years after I graduated. They flew the Rebel flag over the school, along with the American flag. I know what overt racism is like.
