Then why doesn't the company say something about the T2 delay?

How can you publish the speakers of a conference and 8 days later postpone it? You have to know that there might be a problem.

How can you announce such a specific date (April 22) for the T2 launch just two weeks earlier, and then say nothing when the day comes and goes. You have to know that there might be a problem.

Again, nothing apparently fundamental going on here, but I'd like to have confidence that my investment is being managed by people who care about how events are perceived.

You're probably right that the conference is postponed by the T2 delay; even if you're not, it's a logical perception. Add to that that the CEO stepped down, and what further logical perceptions might one conclude: that Penton Media screwed up -- come on!

They also blamed Xact for the Q1 shortfall, so a pattern emerges.

This inept handling of PR events is the optimistic scenario; if it were another company, I'd believe something was seriously amiss under the surface. But this company has been consistently forthright, even conservative in managing expectations for years.

Therefore, I've considered these disappointments buying opportunities ... but I'm worried as hell.
