Well, the way I read your original post, you were essentially saying that the reason archaeologists were not digging beneath the layer of the Clovis remains was NOT that they had accepted the word of the "Clovis mafia" group of archaeologists that there were no older Americans, but that they had decided to wait until this movement (the Native Americans wanting their remains back) had died down. That would require a concerted conspiracy, would it not, to get all the archaeologists in agreement? And exactly when would it die down? It became a federal law in 1990 that remains be returned. When are the Native Americans going to get over it, anyway? I have reread your original post, and still don't really see any other way of interpreting what you said. What did you mean, then?

I did a web search to find the article, but didn't find it. I looked at the New Yorker site, but they don't have a search engine. I would certainly read it if I could find it, however.
