I, too, have always wondered who the heck that makes up the whisper numbers. I hate them. They put more stress on us when it comes to earnings time. I have always thought the whisper number is the joke, and yet I have seen stocks get punished big time if their report barely meets the whisper number or fails to, even if it meets/beats the street estimates.

The latest victim is VeriSign-VRSN

Vendit,

I think .11 is low don't you?

As I pointed out in an earlier post, .11 is predicted by taking the number of subscribers this quarter vs. the number in the previous quarter. If there is no upside beyond .11, I would venture to say that the plans for growing AOL's business faster than its subscriber base have not been realized yet. That's why this earnings report is going to be so interesting. If the Street sees AOL growing its business faster than its subscriber base, I think we will see our stock take off.
