hands on,

i want to address the antivirus part of your question. i don't have anything for you on the purplish tint situation.

"I now have the Norton AntiVirus version 2.0, is this sufficient to protect my computer from this new virus."

the short answer is no. but the long answer makes most sense. and here it is.

keeping in mind that i am not a symantec virus software engineer <gg>, i would say that version2.0 is, by itself, too outdated for newer viruses. norton is now up to version 5.0. however, if you are able to do live updates and constantly install the latest definitions from norton, then i retract my "no".

one other thing. you could have no antivirus software loaded on your puter, and that wouldn't mean you were going to be infected by this new virus. just like you could walk through the bad part of town late at night, and that alone doesn't mean you are going to get mugged. question is, what do you feel comfortable with? it isn't really for me to say, for anyone other than myself, where legitimate preparation stops and panic begins. :)

for people who don't have adequate protection in the form of a good antivirus package like norton av5.0, then i like richard's simple solution of changing the date tonight... #reply-9120669 .

sorry i can't think of what to do about the purple tint, hands on. maybe video drivers. probably should look in device manager at your display adapter info for conflicts. shrug.

good luck,

mark

Someone posted a similar problem on the "dream" thread a while ago. I think the person had also just moved his monitor. Not sure of the exact outcome, but I think it had to do with EM interference. Here is a link from the middle of the discussion -- you can follow it to see where it leads:

FWIW, I had an older version (12 months old<gg> )of McAfee's VirusScan and was a bit worried about tomorrow's virus (and others). Went to their website, downloaded the updates. It was easy, took about 10 minutes, was free and I feel better. Norton must have the same service.
