EGRP

Funny thing, I checked marketguide, vickers and one other source and all three give different % institutional ownership for EGRP. Vickers provides some other info that is worth sharing. Basically, for EGRP it shows that the funds only bought 19 million shares and have since sold 18 million of them in the last three months. More interesting is that the insiders sold 836k shares and didn't buy any for the last 6 months...

Top Five Institutional Holders
Rank Institutional Name Report Date Position
1 GENERAL ATLANTIC PARTNERS, LLC 12/31/98 8,749,860
2 PRICE (T.ROWE) ASSOCIATES 12/31/98 8,228,000
3 FMR CORPORATION (FIDELITY) 12/31/98 5,737,800
4 FRANKLIN RESOURCES, INC 12/31/98 1,880,000
5 BARCLAYS BANK PLC 12/31/98 1,404,620

So given that only about a million shares were added to the funds positions since Feb, the above list of holdings as of Dec 98 means all of that gang bought before it reached mid $20's. Its over $100 now, but my guess looking at the volumes traded that some of the above dumped their shares in the $140-120 range on the 14th of April. The last is a guesstimate I make based on NAV value changes in some of the tech sector funds of the above list.
