Lack of activity with SI thread is something new, I think lots of
people have turned their attention to the Yahoo board, which is actually a better board now than this one. Quality of posts has improved immensely their.

As far as SI activity relating to earnings, not sure what you mean. Of course our activity here has nothing to do with earnings. Earnings have been in and calculated for almost a month now. What we do or say or hope or guess does nothing to change that.

As far as divesting themselves from their assets in Japan and Hongkong...why? They just recently acquired these within the past year or so. They may not even be fully integrated yet, (just guessing, i don't know). Why borrow so much money to make big purchases that will be accretive to earnings and then spin em off?

I know that your questions were directed to DK but I thought I would give my opinions. Hope you don't mind.

Of course it goes without saying that DK can't comment on whether there will be an unusual earnings announcement,so why even ask?

regards,
cg

Earnings right around the corner, Yahoo has a contest going, I kinda like it, keeps the interest and enthusiasm going, also keeps everyones thoughts on the company and exchanging thoughts/ideas.

I expect a good report, nice to close above $60 on friday, esp. after such a wild week, not too far away from high of $73, which if you remember, was achieved on a day wherein we opened around $60 or $61. In fact I think in the first half hour we traded up $12 or so on about 300-400k volume.

So at these higher levels, $5-$10 moves may become the course of the day. Of course as we have all seen in recent days, $5-10-$15 moves to the downside are equally capable of happening as well.

Our market cap about 3.3 billion I think. Anyone know when we added the extra 4-5million shares to our outstanding. Seemed like last time I checked it was about 51million???

Also MCI assets went for about 1.5billion right? And what about IBM, was it about 3-4 billion??? I think so, so we are right up there and very well may close in on 4 billion this week with a nice earnings report.
Actually $72.75/share would put us a tad over 4billion in market cap, so we have actually achieved this already. Will be nice when we 'trade' at or above this level.

DK, if PSIX
private jet is going to be in the seattle area anytime before Tuesday's report, can I get a ride back so I can be there. I'll get my own ride home(grin)....

Wish I could be there though, if I ever get that way, I will definitely be stopping in to see the facilities.

AT&T's bid is upping the anty....you can't tell me that there
are not tons of executives sitting around their conference table eating takeout chinese watching PSIX sale price go up and up and up....literally beating themselves for missing their opportunity.

Ahh....too bad....and even at 3.2 billion market cap, they would still have to pay 4-5 billion to satisfy shareholders and BOD. Because of PSIX recent performance a buyout would have to contain a monumental premium to attract/confirm a sale.

just my thoughts,
cg

Dear Poor Rich,

I have no idea why volumes are what they are.

Our earnings announcement is usually on a Tuesday, at 11:00, so this is routine, not unusual.

We have no plans to spin off anything in Asia. We're enjoying integrating the Asian companies into PSINet, and they are providing us with stellar performance.

Regards,

David Kunkel
