John, CNBC blowing smoke in CPQ's eyes may have actually helped (painful as it was short term). Who was going to tell CPQ different, their upset resellers? ''The early rumblings we heard from Compaq indicate that they misread the slow start (in the quarter) and believed it was an industry issue,'' Dataquest's Stremba said.
