Hi Everyone... Whew!.. took me awhile to get through all the posts.

Here's some info from a lurker... In the 4-26-99 magazine of Business Week... That the Amex exchange in the US has been under investigation for internal price fixing and trading with insider info. The former part was mainly in the form of wide spreads between bid and ask. Good to know they actually do follow through on investigations.

By the way, Victor. I agree with your interpretation of the patent statement on UBID. It is different than a Dutch auction.

One thing that I think the analysts of the auction sites have omitted in evaluation of BIDS is the Bid Buddy feature which allows a person to bid on an item in absentia. I think this is a very good feature, especially when people are working or away from their computers for whatever reason. Apparently, other auction sites do not have that feature, but I have not investigated that aspect myself.

BTW, I was doing some reading yesterday and came across this and thought I would share ...

"The kind of fraud which consists in daring to proclaim the truth while mixing it with a large share of lies that falsify it, is more widespread than is generally known."

Cheers.... Mac
