If I was CPQ CEO I would buy E-machine's to compete in the very low
end of the market. I would also buy several small Internet companies
to bolster Alta Vista. I should become CEO I could have this stock
up to $100 in no time. The plan is so simple I don't know
why management don't see this. I would also cut the dividend and
reinvest all the cash in buying small Internet companies per my above plan.

DEC did sell the most expensive part of the Alpha development - the chip fabrication - to Intel, and also licensed portions of the technology to Intel, Samsung and AMD. The total of these deals was close to $1B. We'll just have to see how well CPQ can leverage this asset but I don't see another quick sale possibility unless someone like CPQ makes the market look attractive.
