<<There are so many obvious vestiges of Neanderthal features in some modern humans that I am surprised that anyone would believe that they could not mate with us, anyway.>>

N. went to high school with a fellow who looked exactly like a Neanderthal. The boy's name was Ned, and he couldn't have been a sweeter person, N says. And he was so unfortunate looking.

Maybe that was some recessive Neanderthal genes popping up. Maybe it means that Neanderthals were real sweet, like Ned.

I am not surprised that modern humans interbred with Neanderthals. They still do, don't they? I have run into people whose ancestors, I think, haven't been walking upright that long. They tend to have calloused knuckles. They are also known as creationists.
