Given that Microsoft has a track record for mediocrity, and Compaq a Digital acquisition that still hasn't been fully digested, I would rank all of this posturing on the same level that you put the so-called "Merced FUD" on.

You'll have to explain. You mentioned scalability and fault-tolerance, two capabilities that I think can also be featured on Merced platforms.
