Mani and Thread - Anand spills the beans From his latest blurb Monday morning. More mystery and intrigue surrounds the vaunted K7. anandtech.com Can't say much, and I can't stay for long but Good Morning ;) Well, tonight, at midnight EST you'll get to see the big surprise. I didn't realize my little 700MHz blurb would cause so much discussion, it's not that big of a deal guys ;) I'll tell you this, it's NOT an AMD K7, and the big surprise is not the AMD K7 review (AMD would slap me silly). The big surprise is not a single review, sorry to disappoint you all, but it isn't. Ah, now I feel bad that I've let some of you down who were thinking that the big surprise was a K7 review. Hmm...ok, how 'bout this, the K7 is definitely performing, clock for clock, as fast as an Intel Pentium II/III processor in Business Applications and in Games? Chew on that little tidbit until you finally see a full review which will be a while from now. What I will tell you is this, the Celeron isn't the only overclockable chip out there, and if I were going to build a new system I'd wait about a month before doing so (provided that I was looking to buy the fastest thing out there).

They said the ASP for the K62 will not rise much from $78.> So what you're saying is that the ASP for K6-2 won't rise much from $78, but the ASP for K6-III is up in the air? <Also as far as I remember they also did not say that they do not expect to make 5.5 million CPU's. Please list your source.> I thought they hinted at it in one of their three warnings. I don't feel like hunting for the source at this time, but suffice to say that I don't think AMD's current capacity allows them to reach the 5.5 million mark again because of the K6-III and K7 ramp-ups.
