But we had a"free" (or freer) country for years....that is what was so wonderful about Washington, Jefferson, Madison, no matter what anyone says about their sex life or slaves or personal this or that: these men formed a country that had at its core. Individual rights!!!! Amazing! Property rights for the average man!! Amazing! Never thought of before, never done before. And it worked for years. Was it perfect? No, but a lot closer than now and than ever before anywhere.
