CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 5, 1999--The CT Pioneers, a three-year old, highly interactive, nationwide organization of Convergence-Technology focused VARs and Interconnects, announced the addition of Comdial (Nasdaq: CMDL) to the list of sponsors who currently support the efforts of the Pioneers.

Member companies meet bi-weekly via teleconferencing to educate themselves on business strategies, new products, solution selling techniques, marketing strategies, personnel development, etc. The Pioneers also work with their Vendor Partners, such as Comdial, to serve as a resource for information on reseller channel strategies, product viability, and the end-user community. Working with such trade shows as CT Expo and CTI Expo, the Pioneers provide education and training to other resellers interested in developing a successful CT business model. Working with other Industry organizations, the Pioneers will help drive the Industry to some realistic level of standards and interoperability.
The CT Pioneers organization was founded more than three years ago to address the question, "How can my company be successful at selling Computer Telephony solutions?" For many VARs and Interconnects faced with rapidly declining margins and growing competition, the area of Computer Telephony offered potential for high margins, and there was certainly little competition for customer business. However, the VARs and Interconnects quickly learned that CT is not just another "product line," it requires a new business model, a new method of selling, and broader technical knowledge.
