The summer tires currently on my VW are Michelins (MXV4 I think, 1/32 left before getting into the tread wear indicators). I rotate them front / back every year, and the tire pressures seem right at about 34psi front, 32psi rear. Remember that I only use them during the summer, as I have a separate set of winter tires and rims.

Last night I checked out the tire rack, a mail-order tire retailer.
tirerack.com
A very good website, I highly recommend visiting. They test, compare, and review many tires and also invite customers to review and comment about the tires they have owned.

My cursory research indicates that the Michelin X-One is a very good tire. I noticed that even with its very long life the Michelin X-One has some very good reviews and seems to beat most comparable tires in almost all areas. I don't know how the Michelin compares with the Toyo though, as the Tire Rack doesn't stock Toyos. I have heard that the Toyo Proxes are a fabulous performance tire.
