Thought on the content creation and new channels and building longterm value for a library....

Film library values are derived from the licensing of ancilliary rights to a film, generating multiple revenue streams..You make the film once; at the boxoffice, the film company splits box office receipts with the exhibitor, usually 50-50%; then domestic home video release;foreign video release (licensing fees usually negotiated by region or country);pay per view;cable;over the air;airlines;and home video sell through etc...

Ed says this is a distinct medium. Rather than pay others for the right to re broadcast their stuff, Ampex creates material for their own channels and their affiliates create stuff. They then own all the "rights". Archived for speedy access, collocated in their media and hosting facilities across the globe, they then can license for a fee to; web portal companies (AOL, Yahoo, etc.); to companies for whom certain programming is their business(Fashion, Health care etc,) to feature on their own website.
