Scumbria,

Anand says that K7 performs as fast as PIII.

That's all. "Is that all there is?" - Peggy Lee.

as i see it; there were 3 shock-waves in 1q1999:

(i) the last gasp from a moribund TK who warned of a low-end
price war

(ii) the late February warning by CPQ of slower PC sales

(iii) the profit shortfall preannouncement by CPQ in early April

In all 3 cases INTC took a hit as "analysts" bashed
INTC. Now TK is gone and the CPQ problems are really CPQ problems.

In all 3 cases I bought more INTC on the dip and took some profits on the subsequent rebounds.

Conclusion: INTC is the best play both short and long term.

SCUMbria - Re: "Anand says that K7 performs as fast as PIII. How does that figure into your view of the world?"

Anand said the same thing about the Kmart 63 5 months ago.

Not very many Kmart 63's around.

Shoots the hell out of AMD's claim that the desKtop 7 will be the WORLD's fastest x86 processor when the desKtop 7 finally does ship.

It's only as fast as last month's Pentium III - 0.25 micron version !

>K7 performs as fast as PIII<

Is this the same K7 that may be available sometime in the future?
