MENLO PARK, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 26, 1999-- Onsale®, Inc (Nasdaq:ONSL - news) announced today that it has signed an exclusive multimillion dollar marketing agreement that includes a co-branded credit card with First USA, the world's largest issuer of Visa credit cards.

The agreement includes advertising, promotions and merchandising programs designed specifically for Onsale customers. First USA will develop and issue an Onsale Visa credit card that will be available to all Onsale customers in the next few months.

''First USA's commitment underscores the power and reach Onsale has developed over the years through its reputation of quality goods at fair prices,'' said Debbie Pinkston, Onsale's vice president of advertising sales. ''What differentiates us from many ecommerce sites is the quality of our buying audience. Our customers are seasoned online buyers who make their extensive Onsale purchases with credit cards. With First USA, we will offer programs and benefits unique to our customers.''

New buyers made an average of almost two and a half purchases in the first quarter of 1999. New Onsale customers spent an average of $710 in their first 12 months, with 10 percent spending $4,000 or more.

Onsale has over 1,000,000 people registered to bid. In the first quarter, the company served more than 1.2 million daily page views, and averaged 161,000 unique visitors a day. Repeat customers accounted for 73 percent of the orders.

First USA advertisements will appear at Onsale atCost and Onsale atAuction. Onsale atCost lets customers purchase new computer products at the company's wholesale invoice prices plus a ''transaction fee,'' rather than the common retail markup. Onsale atAuction lets customers bid at auction on a range of excess and closeout computer products, consumer electronics, sporting goods and vacation packages.
