Peter,

Does Sun's I-Planet have anything to do at all with NDS?

I have seen a shift back to Novell. I install a MRP system in small manufacturing environments. It's called Visual Manufacturing. Anyway, over the past 8 months I have done 7 installations a month. My territory is 8 western states and 3 canadian provinces. 20% of the US installs were Novell. 80% of the canadian were Novell. I have seen the trend increasing in the states. What used to be 20% is now about 50%. Even in the Seattle area. People are tired of having to come into every customer, once a month to fix the problems that have been logged on their NT servers. More and of these 1 and 2 server installations are going back to Novell, because they can install it and it will run for a year without having to do any real maintenance.

One of the interesting things I have noticed is that the MRP system run faster on Novell than is does on NT. The MRP system runs on top of a Database. Usually Centura's SQLbase, or Oracle.

ZEN works is also making a difference. Rolling out clients for the MRP system is so much easier with ZEN works.

Having nothing to do with Novell, other than the application I install and support, I was moved by what I have seen to the point that I have invested a little of my hard earned money.

My 2 cents....Bryan

Community & Connectivity...

>>As simply as I can say it, it's all about connecting resources whether it be a file, a service or another person...it's all about getting there.>>

Peter:

Great post. Thanks.

You hit the nail on the head.

The more nails you drive in this model, the more corporate coffins you will close as you open up their competitors to embracing this "new era of markets" which caters to individual control and power.
