Thank you very much for posting that chart--I have not see Barron's--is that exactly what appeared there?

The story it tells to me is that Fed began to try to dampen things late in the spring of 1998 and then panicked and abruptly reversed course after the August decline. If pulling the M3 growth back to 8% from about an average of 12% yanked the Dow below 7500 from 9000, what will an even more protracted decline from above 14% to below 3% do for a Dow that's close to 11,000?

Lots of other factors to consider, of course. But this is getting close to the point where the casino stops taking credit cards.
