Dear James: I do not believe Java is a profit center. Being an "open " language people all over the world are improving it, or so I am led to believe. It is not restricted to just a few software people in one company. Dont you think you ought to cover your short position. All you negative talk seems to only serve to cause the price to increase further? JDN

Marvin, MSFT spends over $ 1 billion a year in R&D and only
in software !

They would have been better off tanking their entire R&D budget
& investing it in the internet. Just what has been the payback
for that 1+Billion$ spent in the last year???? The release
of Windows '98??? Someone should've told Ballmer that if that's
all they wanted to publish in a year's time, they could have
saved themselves a bundle in R&D costs.

One thing to bear in mind is this: SUNW is an innovative
engineering company & MSFT isn't. R&D at SUNW doesn't mean the
same as R&D at MSFT. R&D projects @SUNW are ALWAYS showing
up on the bottom line. This year, SUNW will sell 12+billion$
of products based on their R&D. So it represents money well
spent and technological advancement in computing.
