This from the FAQ of my cable company, Cox Cable, who just started offering cable modems in New Orleans <<7. Who makes cable modems? There are many companies who are producing or have announced cable modem products. Included are: 3COM, AT&T, COM21, General Instrument, HP, Hughes, Hybrid, IBM, Intel, LANCity, MicroUnity, Motorola, Nortel, Panasonic, Scientific-Atlanta, Terrayon, Toshiba and Zenith. Cox is currently purchasing modems from Motorola and LANCity.>> I think you can add in Westell and Pairgain, who make ADSL components and maybe cable modems.
