Burt - Re: "Absolutely baffled by this. I thought the market looks ahead 6 - 9 months and that's when K7 hits in volume."

It is clear that the Kmart 63's, announced in mid February to preempt Intel's Pentium III roll out, are not yet shipping in any kind of volume.

The Kmart 63 is a relatively small die - 118 sq. mm. - vs. the 184 sq. mm. for the K7. Both sizes refer to the 0.25 micron versions.

If AMD can't make K63's, how in the world are they going to make K7's which are 56% LARGER DIE SIZES ?

My guess is that intelligent analysts have realized that the liklihood of any significant K7 production this year is NIL - and whatever K7's AMD does produce will have trouble finding customers due to the requirement of all new motherboards with all new chip sets, etc.
