On some of these fast moving I-nut stocks brokers will liquidate your
holdings without even telling you in advance if a stock is dropping too quickly (or climbing too quickly if you're short)

The limit is 3 days...period. Now on Internet stocks you will find B/D's that require a higher Maintenance but calls are 3 days. The problem is Many B/D's don't have a seat on the exchange so they clear with another company who seats the rules for them. If asked to cover a call in less than 3 days your response should be "lick me where I sweat."
