Gabriel, Your opinion is supported by the following which was posted on Saturday 4/24/1999 on TMF:

Dell EMF 1 Which builds the desktop range has cancelled overtime and is closed tomorrow(Sunday)
Normal shifts till midnight 5/30/99. Dell EMF 2 which builds servers and laptops is flat out 24/7 until Friday. Order books are full so me think someone has made target and is coasting till end of Q1 leaving plenty of gas in the tank for a healthy start to Q2.

Just a taught.

Rgds

Morgan

(Thanks to the person who originally posted this on the DELL thread.)

I can't substantiate this claim from the poster. However, it appears to be another piece to the puzzle of just how well DELL is doing this quarter/year.

Your opinions regarding the IDC numbers would be appreciated by all of us.

Best,

Duncan

Gabriel....concerning Dell having greater price erosion than Gateway this quarer...

True, Dell was probably more aggressive, BUT given Dell's ability to offset with higher-priced units (servers, workstations, high-end PCs), wouldnt you think Dell would do BETTER than Gateway? Any idea how Dell has done vs. Gateway historically on ASP's (I thought they did much better, on a % basis) each quarter...

Gateway sequentially down 3%? I don't think that is too bad for Dell....(given listed above)...
