I guess this further explains the timing of the "new" negative story in the UK press, which is just a rehash of an old argument. I've gone back and traced some of the other negative stories published recently in the UK. In almost every case, I found similar stories published earlier...sometimes years earlier.

On Tuesday, Jaworski and three colleagues will be honored in a Washington, D.C., ceremony, receiving from President Bill Clinton the National Medal of Technology, an award established by Congress in 1980 to honor innovation.

I had a chance to meet Ernie Jaworski when I was at Washington University in St. Louis. Not only was he a bright scientist, but he also had the rare knack to bring diverse people together and encourage them to follow up on their ideas. For the Washington University-Monsanto Research Program, he not only was the idea leader in getting the funding started, but in the early days he was the cheerleader to encourage participation and keep it going.
