The last time I looked, a Solaris X86 license cost less than an NT license, so I doubt cost is an issue for serious applications.

JMHO.

The problem with Linux vs. Solaris is that: Do you trust a smart hacker from some universities who does Linux for passion or do you trust a professional OS developer who's done it for 10+ years, to fix your problem? In other words, do you trust someone who does a job for hobby or do you give it to a professional?

It's like that real estate commercial, do you trust Tiger Woods to be your golf coach, or do you want your uncle Joe do the job? If I have money, I choose Tiger. If I am poor, I might choose Uncle Joe.
