John:
Re:This might just be the beginning of a bidding war. This is a small price for one of
the last well respected networking cos. in the US. I wouldn't be surprised to see Ericy
or TLAB or others step up to the plate. Who is GEC anyway?

GEC is huge. It is the GE of the UK. It is interesting that GEC's share price went up on the announcement. I think that the Europeans see this as an old company getting with it and taping into the US market.

A bidding war would be nice ala MediaOne but if you read back on this thread a couple of weeks, many posters thought $25 would be good. Glad to say that I didn't.

I expect unless there is another offer Fore will trade about a buck below the $35 level, at least that is how it went with XYLAN.

Good luck,

Ray

GEC is huge...if you're in the aerospace industry, you'd know they just got swallowed by British Aerospace, back in January. The new GEC was out to make a big mark int the communications world. Maybe more companies could come as their balence sheet is all clean now. Shareholders got shares in the NEW GEC, and a little over a 3rd of BAe...see this item...
