Fox News Online Inks Multi-Year Deal as the Premier News Content Provider for @Home Network
FOX News Leads the Pack as Biggest Programmer in Broadband Space
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 29, 1999--News America Digital Publishing, News Corporation's interactive media division and producer of FOX News Online (foxnews.com), together with @Home Network, the leader in high-speed broadband Internet service via cable infrastructure, today announced FOX News Online as the premier broadband news provider for @Home Network worldwide.

As part of the agreement, FOX News Online will be the primary provider of news content within the @Home News Channel. The companies are teaming up to offer specialized programming built specifically to take advantage of @Home's high-speed network. The FOX offerings will contain content that highlights high quality video, large format photographs and ''built-for-broadband'' functionality. Subscribers will have access to Fox News Online stories including breaking US and World News updated on a 24-hour basis and feature top FOX News and FOX News Channel programming and personalities.

''We believe that the growth of broadband interactive programming presents one of the most exciting opportunities for media companies,'' said Peter Chernin, President and Chief Operating Officer of News Corporation. ''Our partnership with @Home, coupled with our investments in the development of compelling creative properties, will give News Corporation an early advantage in the broadband marketplace.''

''We are aggressively looking for ways to leverage our broadcast content across multiple platforms and distributing broadband media is an important facet of this initiative,'' said James Murdoch, president of NADP. ''This agreement with @Home solidifies FOX News' position as the leader in broadband news programming.''

''Media companies such as FOX News Online are focusing on broadband and what it can do for the consumer,'' said Tom Jermoluk, chairman, president and CEO of @Home Network. ''Consumer acceptance of cable Internet services is increasing and what is driving this acceptance among mainstream consumers is a compelling multimedia experience that leverages the always-on and high-speed attributes of cable.'' ''FOX News' leadership position in the development of broadband programming makes them an ideal partner for @Home in this time of exciting growth,'' added Jermoluk.

News America Digital Publishing, formed in November 1997, is the electronic publishing division of News Corporation's (NYSE: NWS - news) News America Publishing Group. News America Digital Publishing engages in three primary activities: operating FOX News Online and FOX Sports Online, developing related interactive services such as broadband products and enhanced television, and directing investment activities and strategy for News Corporation as it relates to digital media.
