They make stuff like Digital Cross Connects that allow fiber optic signals to get sent to the places they need to go. Some get "dropped" to local networks while others get sent on their way to some other cross connects farther away. They sell a lot of them because they make the best ones.

I know that but what do the thingys do? Are they like the routers and switches that Cisco makes? And what is the bread and butter product.
