Blue, I read "War and Peace" for the first time when I was 12 years old, and got really wrapped up in it. I fell immediately in love with Prince Andrei, never could forgive Natasha for marrying a fat man (Pierre), etc., etc. But that first time round I read only the Peace, and skipped the War. Try that some time -- you might really like it! You might actually "finish" the book -- and then come back for a second go-round.

<<. Nor Moby Dick, for that matter. >>

Didn't only read it but memorized the speech about chasing The Moby Dick into hell. Really impressed the guys I took crappie fishing. That was before they got to see my boat driving. Called for a LOT of beer.

Coby, I had the same reaction to David Copperfield, which my mother adored. There is much of Dickens that I enjoy reading, but this particular work just put me off.

(shhh, don't let Chuzz know that I said that)

How did you feel about Tristram Shandy? I read it ROFLMAO, yet so many people seem to find it unfunny.

And in the same vein, The Praise of Folly, a personal favorite, full of thought, comedy, parody, and word play?
