Thanks Mark. I do think that now is a great time to be in the mid range RAID space selling into HP,SUN, SGI and NT world mainly because of the internet explosion. The reason that it is great now is not only is demand so high but these companies are new and tend not to have an EMC installed base (Once EMC gets in they are hard to win business in that account). Also these new and emerging internet companies are more price/performance driven and that too can help in fighting off EMC. I do think that companies like MTI, DGN and other small RAID box integrators (Compass and others) have a shot here. I do know that MTI has has a large increase in new accounts as a result of this trend and others too can benefit. Certainly the multi-host function of MTI's controller is a feature ahead of most. DGN and Mylex say they will have it by year end. MTI's box is not for all environments but works best for TP environments. I have owned MTI for around 3 years and actually have never felt better about the prospects for the future nobody else in the market agrees with me nor anyone on this thread and I have been singing to no avail lately as I have been wrong.

I'm with you, Mark. A lively discussion between these very knowledgable people brings welcome information. If one side or both is sometimes a little off target, so be it. Thanks Jim and David, both.

I'm happy your Legato is holding up well on good volume, Mark. Veritas ran a wide spread today but managed to finish flat-ish. Do you watch Q-Logic? They're making some FC hardware and stuff and seem to be moving back up rather strongly, especially today.

David, What's the story on the poor stock action of Mylex? The way they were moving a couple months ago, I thought they'd have been in the 20's by now. Are they a good take over target at this price?

Cheers, guys. This time next week I'll be writing to you from The Land of Comdex (not Chicago).
