Irrp - Re: "speed of microprocessors will reach a point
where speed in maxed out, ie apps will never need more power--"

I read the same thing in a 1987 issue of Forbes.

llrp, Back in the 1980's, DELL showed their new 12Mhz PC at the trade show (now Comdex) against the IBM 10Mhz machine. There were 2 lines waiting to look at DELL's machine. The first line contained power hungry users who wanted to order these speed demons. The second line was filled with members of the media which were asking why would people ever need that much power in a PC.

I understand the new Windows 200 operating system has a suggested memory of 128MB. New applications and system requirements will continue to drive new computing power. That's the way I see it.

Best,

Duncan
