Those that remember Intel's flawless execution are new to Intel. While Intel has made a major contribution to modern society, it falls short of flawless. Specifically

1. Fdiv Division bug and product recall in early Pentium
2. IA860/960 Risc CPU of the future
3. IAPX432 CPU of the future
4. Intel Modem business
5. Intel Wrist Watch (I owned one it ran only three years).
6. Intel Magnetic Bubble Business (disc memory of the future)

My point is that the word flawless is not appropriate. They may be magnificent entrepreneurs, but they are not flawless.

The data center business will go nowhere for them. If it's not driven by device physics it does not survive at Intel!
