I think a big part of it is the recent regulatory action taken at the Crown Jewel project in Washington state. It isn't a foregone conclusion that this will get back on track, and it's unfortunate that federal agencies derailed the project in the 11th hour. A massive letter writing campaign is underway to influential senators and congressman; there are about 25 that are key to protecting existing U.S. mining law. The bigger fatality in this project has been Crown Resource (CRRS), down from about $3 to $1 in the last month or two. You can get a list of the contacts and a sample letter from Crown. Every letter is suppose to represent 50,000 votes, so it could make a difference.
