vic--- the sellers are those that have made tremendous gains in other issues and see no reason to hold here for 18 months to see $40 again,, if then. The tax man will help them into another issue that will move faster and farther. Both institutions and individuals are selling and the traders for 1/8 - 1/4 are doing fine. The only ones not making $$ on this investment are those holding in the cellar.. Sell it tomorrow at 24 and buy it back later at 23 for another trip-- this will continue for months--- but is sure is nice going up,,, it is sustained this time.... jmo

Victor, Here's your answer,

You are making the mistake of assuming that merely because the number of institutions holding cpq goes up then there must be net buying by institutions. This is not true. about 1400 institutions held 70%+ of cpq in late 1997. Now 1800 institutions own 50%. There has been net selling by institutions over the last 1 1/2 years.
