James, you're talking about 0.01% of the typical scalability problems you encounter. People just don't get work done with a single process that's massively threaded and running on one super expensive box with more than 8 processors.

That kind of design would never be fault tolerant and would never be scalable because of other more realistic restrictions. Except in rare cases, only someone fresh out of college would design a large system that way.
