And all this talk about 9-issue execution units, deeper buffers, a maximum of 8 MB of L2 cache, a 200 MHz processor bus, and an oversized 128K L1 cache is all for naught then if the K7 merely achieves performance parity with an equivalently-clocked Pentium III.

If K7 runs at 700 MHz and PIII runs at 600 MHz (or vice-versa), equivalent clocking will not be a particularly interesting topic of discussion.
