Ted,

Rightly or wrongly, many CNBC viewers assign a high degree of credibility to reports coming from "news" personnel on TV.

Obviously this behaviour will not serve those viewers well in all cases.

I expect a higher standard from CNBC; though I doubt that I'll see it in my lifetime.

It would be nice to be surprised, however.

Re the specific instance and your comment:

There is a difference between reporting that a rumor is moving the market and repeating the rumor.

The market didn't start moving down until Maria B reported the rumour.

Ian.

Mr. David,
Welcome to the internet and silicon investor. It's great to see you here and to find you accessible to your viewers. CNBC is a great tool for investors and I find the CEO interviews particularly helpful to me in my investing because I get the information before a broker or analyst has filtered it for me. E*Trade brokerage, CNBC for market information, and Yahoo for news releases has resulted in a shift in the market from institutions to individuals. Keep up the great work that you are doing for us, the viewing investing public.
Sincerely,
Cosmo Daisey
