So why have American car manufacturers and computer companies made the UK their largest overseas base? Why are they buying up or trying to buy up the British marques. Do you know who owns Jaguar now? The British were at the forefront of car design and leaders in all major rallies when the Americans were still trying to wean themselves from black cookie cuttter Fords to 1950's chevvies. When was the last time you saw an American engineering team win or even compete at F1. Britain was at the forefront of the design and development of the computer and its practical applications.
